Too much detail

infoWe all seem to need significantly different amounts of detail to understand and get comfortable with something new. So when we need to communicate a new idea or opportunity to a number of different people we will improve the likelihood of success if we can layer the information:

  • Opportunity simply and succinctly stated
  • Summary of the detail
  • Selected relevant detail
  • All detail included, source info, underlying assumptions etc.

Many busy people only want to see that the detail exists so refer to it with a reference, a URL or click through, but don’t cloud the simplicity of the opportunity by presenting too much.
