Example: Two people approach the restaurant counter and have to ask can we get a table, they are immediately asked, “do you have a booking?” To which they say “no”.

There is a two-minute posturing session with Olympic level mental gymnastics by the supervisor, before being able to say, “yes please come with me”.

If it is your business insist your staff know what tables (capacity) you have available at all times, and greet your potential customers with something like “Welcome, would you like a table for two?”

It is so much easier for them to say “YES”
