Simplify your business
What are you doing or making that is not proportionately contributing?
Review individual product sales? If it is not selling, then stop offering it.
As a minimum, look at the sales throughput of the lowest 20% performing, items you sell and ask the same questions of each item:
- Does this add value to my core customers?
- How can I increase that value.
- What is the down side to discontinuing this item.
If you only delete or change 10% of your products every year, your average product has a 10 year productive life which seems long in our fast changing world (10% most probably isn’t enough)
By deleting underperforming product lines regularly you will have the capacity and agility to try new ones and stay refreshed.
