Do you realise how wealthy you are?

How many of the things you take for granted (that are almost free) could you not do without? Water is the first of many things that comes to mind!  Why can’t we see the value of this significant resource?

Why are we so stupid not to see the things that are so abundant can also be the most valuable?

Even the poorest amongst us are wealthy by comparison to many people around the world – it seems to be more a matter of what criteria we measure against and what we allow ourselves to think?

We are more wealthy than you know

The trap of false expectations about your rights?

Is our New Zealand society trapped in a misguided misunderstanding of success and failure?

There are thousands of opportunities for each of us every year to make decisions to improve our life. To do something that will improve our income, learn new skills, improve engagement with our family, make a bigger contribution to our community, do something entrepreneurial, educate ourselves and the list goes on. These opportunities are available to all of us, in our beautiful country. “Yes” it comes in different forms and “yes” some people seem to have an easy road than others, but no one can deny it is freely available.businessman-cleaning-dirty-and-grime-on-wall-with-handkerchief-to-reveal-beautiful-blue-sky

Many amongst us appear to sell ourselves short by not appreciating our opportunities and seeing too many things as our right. Then when we haven’t done our bit we think we are hard done by. This becomes our justification for a system and society with too many people living with poor health, poorly educated, poorly informed, defeated and unmotivated.

Abundance – knowledge and information has never been more available and at no cost.
Opportunity – there is a vast range of needs that people currently have that aren’t being met.
Application – How you apply yourself will have a vastly greater effect on your success than the availability of opportunity.
Effort – Increase your effort and maintain the focus.
Failure – Is nothing more than the results not meeting expectations! So take away all you have learnt and try again, and repeat it until you succeed.
Be Positive – It is much easier to succeed when you see the upside of things, and it is certainly easier to be happier on your journey through life.

Stop measuring yourself relative to someone else and rather, measure your self against your effort to reach your potential!

Time and you

Does the passing of time change the look of time? IE If you are looking at a block of time in the past, how does the context and value differ compared to looking at the same block of time in the future with the unpredictability that brings? Or is it the context of “self” that is different? What do you think??

Time & YOU

Example a man of 20 looks forward and the next 40 years seems to be full of endless adventure, opportunity and hope. Does the same man at 60 have the same attitude looking back over the same 40 years? Certainly not, and does he have the same attitude about the next 40 years? Probably not?

My take away from this is, the greatest opportunity for both you and the time you have will likely always be NOW?

What do your under pants tell you about yourself?

12clothesline1.480If you were to look at your washing line and pretend you were someone else you would be able to tell a lot about the person… Are they tidy fresh and sharp, are they worn and exhausted, do they have attitude and colour or are they washed out. There are many more things that you might guess from the line in front of you, like what effect does the other pair of underwear hanging next to yours have on things, but that is too complex………….

My point is there are hundreds of indicators all around you telling you about the kind of person you are doing business with, that you are working with, that you are taking advice from. Consider taking more time to value and notice this readily available information.

Please be careful – this doesn’t give you any right to judge someone, but an insight to what they need, to validate or understand what they are saying, and most importantly to better relate to them.

If this still feels a bit inadequate I could do an advanced DISC profile to help you interpret the clues and it is probably a lot safer than checking out some ones washing line?

Where is the edge of your reality and comfort zone?

Your comfort zone

Some people are overtly optimistic – never seeing the down side. Others, continually selling their perspective to help their own belief of what they need reality to be… Another group adversely affected by bad experiences see everything as beyond their control, and the perception is affected by doubt and caution.

Maybe where you see the limit of your reality and the edge of your comfort zone comes down to how well you manage your emotional state? Maybe your ability to produce creative solutions that allow you to influence your reality is the defining limit? If so, this would allow you to manage the edge of your reality and comfort zone as you continue to grow.

Are you fortunate to be living in good times, and able to feel the gentle uplift that comes with good fortune?
